Mr. Freeze Arrives in Batman Annual #1

Batman Annual #1

Press Release

Coming this May, BATMAN ANNUAL #1 features the hotly anticipated introduction of Mr. Freeze into DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. But what is the icy villain’s role in the machinations of the sinister Court of Owls and their plot to control Gotham City? Is he friend or foe, ally or enemy?

“Mr. Freeze is a character full of pathos and tragedy and at the end of the day, he’s one of Batman’s deadliest,” said writer Scott Snyder. “So as you can imagine, I’m very excited to be able to do a story that establishes him in the new DCU, with rising stars James Tynion IV and Jay Fabok. This will be tale that really digs into Freeze’s psyche, explaining his connection to the Court of Owls in the present, and exploring dark secrets about his past. Really thrilled to see what you guys think!”

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Gets Sweded

tdkofficialimage

It didn’t take long for the guys at bryanharley on Youtube to create a sweded version of the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises trailer. Their ultra low budget version  is a scene-by-scene recreation of the officially released movie trailer, just like they did back in October with The Avengers trailer.

They do such a wonderful job in recreating the trailers that I look forward to their sweded version as much as I do the originals.

Preview of Detective Comics #1 (2011) by Tony Daniel

1-48ff596926

DC Comics has been spreading out the previews to their New 52 titles among different news outlets, this time it’s USA Today – getting the preview for Detective Comics #1 by Tony Daniel. Detective Comics #1 is the first Batman title to be published and will be followed by Batman #1, Batman and Robin #1, and Batman: Dark Knight #1 in subsequent weeks.

Daniel says his Batman will emphasize the “detective” part of the character.

"It allows me to do some edgier stories. We’re concentrating on serial killers and real bad guys in Gotham City— the scum of the earth — so I get to have a really good film-noir vibe going on with the character: dark, gritty, intense story lines that wouldn’t have felt right with the more superhero-y Batman comic."

Shooting on location in Pittsburgh, PA in late July, it must get pretty hot in those costumes. The fake snow doesn’t make it any cooler either.
