GRIM LEAPER #1 by Kurtis J. Wiebe & Aluisio Santos
Kurtis J. Wiebe, the writer of such acclaimed series as Green Wake, The Intrepids, and Peter Panzerfaust, has another mini series on the way from Image Comics/Shadowline – this time with artist Aluisio Santos defining the look.
Based on the track record that Wiebe has compiled at Image Comics and the amount of quality the publisher has been recently releasing, this is a four issue series to pick up!
Peter Panzerfaust is a new ongoing series by creators Kurtis J. Wiebe and Tyler Jenkins. The pair had previously collaborated on last year’s Snow Angel graphic novel which I found to be a very good read.
They take the fun, magic, and high adventure of Peter Pan and place him firmly in a World War II setting. Having read Kurtis’ previous works, I’m sure this will be a very enjoyable series from Image Comics.

Title:“End of an Era”
The Intrepids #6 unfortunately marks the end of this six issue mini series, but it does so with a bang! The Intrepids come to a realization they’ve been manipulated by their benefactor Dante. This time Dante uses Chester to carry out his bidding remotely by use of a helmet that he uses to control Chester. The team then sides with Dr. Koi in an effort to bring down their leader.
If you’re looking for action, this issue does not disappoint. It’s got cyborgs, car crashes, gung-ho mad scientists, attack baboons with machine guns, attack baboons with Taser prods, cybernetic bears, and computer hacking – I’d like to see Marvel or DC top that!

Title: “Carbon Calamari”
In The Intrepids #5, Crystal, Doyle, Rose, and Chester finally come face to face with Dr. Koi and things don’t quite go as planned. After Chester attacks Dr. Koi, the team battles a giant robotic squid designed to protect him from harm. Afterwards, Dr. Koi reveals the truth about Dante’s ‘experiments’ and how they relate to the creation of the Intrepids. And then it gets even more interesting!

After her encounter with Jonah in The Intrepids #3, Crystal starts to have doubts about the true intentions of Dante’s actions. We also find out the fate of Crystal’s father in a flashback sequence.
In “Skeletons in the Closet,” The Intrepids prepare to assault Dr. Koi’s abandoned lighthouse facility but a rift in loyalties threatens the mission. Ms. Crow wants to change Dante’s gameplan, but Chester deems this an attack on their loyalty to Dante and refuses to take part in it. After a talk with Crystal, Chester is back on board.
After conducting their mission very professionally and in a timely manner, they discover something inside the lighthouse that disturbs them. But before they can figured out what’s going on, they encounter Dr. Koi!
