eisners_logo_greyThe 24th annual Eisner Awards were held on Friday night July 13th at the Indigo Ballroom in the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. The ceremony was part of Comic-Con International: San Diego and there were many comics industry luminaries in attendance as usual.

Below are the list of winners from the 24th annual Eisner Awards. Congratulations to everyone who won an award!

SDCC 2012 Update: Thursday July 12th

Here’s just a quick bit of news coming out of Comic-Con International in San Diego today.

This news is by no means comprehensive, but these are some of the bigger news items of the day.

Vertigo

Neil Gaiman announced that he is writing a prequel to Sandman #1 to be released on the 25th Anniversary of that issue’s publication. The art will be handled by the very talented JH Williams III, whose work on Promethea and Batwoman, Gaiman greatly admires.

2012 Eisner Awards Nominees Announced

eisners_logo_greyToday, Comic-Con International (Comic-Con) released the list of nominees for the 2012 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. The results will be announced in an awards ceremony on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Comic-Con International (SDCC).

Marvel’s Daredevil tops the list with six nominations for Best Continuing Series, Best Single Issue, Best Writer (Mark Waid), Best Cover Artist (Marcos Martin), and Best Penciller/Inker Team (two nominations: Marcos Martin, and Paolo Rivera/Joe Rivera). Jim Henson’s Tales of Sand, published by Archaia, received 5 nominations for Best Graphic Album-New, Best Penciller/Inker, Best Coloring, Best Lettering, and Best Publication Design.

With 11 nominations apiece, including 2 shared, DC and Marvel tied for the most nominations for a publisher. Close behind, IDW received 11 nominations, while Dark Horse had 10 (plus one shared), and Fantagraphics received 9 (plus one shared).
