Musable – Featured Cosplayer Interview

Musable

Musable Cosplay as Red Lantern Supergirl (Photo by Affliction Cosplay Photography)

There are many talented models and performers who bring their love & enthusiasm to dressing up as their favorite characters. Comic Book Critic will occasionally showcase a performer who embodies this spirit of cosplaying.

Whether it’s creating the costume from scratch, altering the appearance of an existing one, or just getting into character, these performers spend a lot of time and effort on their craft. As much as we all enjoy seeing our favorite fictional characters represented in real life, let’s not forget the behind-the-scenes work that goes into that portrayal.

One thing is for certain though, their love of cosplaying shines through in their work.

H’EL ON EARTH: An Essay On DC’s Super Crossover

Keeping Up With the Kryptonians:
A Family Reunion?

H'el on Earth crossover promo

I have cable TV. I grew up with cable TV. I watch too much cable TV. And if you watch cable TV like I watch cable TV, you know that some of the better movie channels go through cycles of playing the same shit over and over for weeks on end. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the eyes and ears is the same serving of Meryl Streep sullenly walking through the West Village of New York, or Bruce Willis breaking through glass windows in bare feet bellowing “yippee ka-yay”. Sure I like sitting down for a good film viewing with a bowl of popcorn and some Red Vines, but many times I watch the same movie over a matter of weeks, while getting ready for work, or maybe during the 15 minutes before the Daily Show comes on. It’s the way of our cable subscribing, ADD world.

New Post-Flashpoint Superman Titles Announced by DC

Today, DC announced the Superman related titles they’re relaunching in September. This is their final wave of announcements that started back on May 31st, 2011 – and by ‘final’ I mean ‘just the start!’

DC still has a lot of talent, exclusive or otherwise, that has been unaccounted for in their initial relaunch announcements. These core titles will be the bread and butter of DC’s push, but just wait a little while and we’ll get news of all the peripheral titles that they’ll be publishing as well. We’ll see what DC has up their creative sleeve with those books. I’m holding out hope for a Keith Giffen / Robert Loren Fleming Ambush Bug title! *crosses fingers*
